After releasing the popular “ Dark Side of the Moon “, Omega has rethought the concept in a new manner.
The watch can be considered a masterpiece, being unusual due to its special texture. The “Grey Side of the Moon” imitates the aspect of the astronauts' footprints left on the moon in their Apollo mission. The lunar surface appearance is captured by accurately mixing ceramics and platinum.
This technique is used for the case crown, bezel, caseback, pushers and clasp. The saphire crystal dial is protected with an anti-reflective treatment on both surfaces.
The dial is made from 950 platinum and the “Ω” symbol from the crown is filled with a luminescent material. The tachymetric scale is also filled with the patented Super-LumiNova, which makes it visible in the dark.
This 44.25-mm watch has a subdial annexing both the 12 hour and 60 minute chronograph counters. This unique model has a grey leather strap with white seams on the front and red on the back, matching the red elements from the Omega Co-Axial caliber 9300 movement. The movement is perfected with a Si14 silicon balance spring which makes the time impossible to deflect from its accurate course.
The “Grey Side of the Moon” timepiece will be available in stores starting with February 2015 at a price of $12, 000. This Omega Speedmaster model will include a 4 year warranty and will be offered in a special box.
